Bad Ass Coffee

The first Colorado Springs-area Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii, located inside 11910 Tourmaline Dr. Building D/Suite #178, is celebrating its market entry with a grand opening event this Friday, February 11 and Saturday, February 12 from 8 a.m. to noon daily.

The celebration will feature prizes, giveaways, samples and special appearances by “Jake the Donkey” 9 a.m. to noon Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Jake is a resident at Double Rainbow Ranch, a Palmer Lake nonprofit that provides a haven for a unique blend of farm and companion animals.

Double Rainbow Ranch is devoted to adding value to and enhancing the lives of people of all ages and backgrounds, as well as bringing comfort, joy, happiness, compassion, and education through unique interactions with our farm and companion animals. Locally owned Bad Ass Coffee will be donating 15% of sales from the grand opening to Double Rainbow Ranch.

The donkey is revered in Hawaii and Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii’s name pays tribute to this very important animal in Hawaiian coffee history. Legend has it that for generations, donkeys could be heard bellowing as they carried precious loads of coffee beans down the steep mountains of the Big Island. The people of Kona named these hard-working donkeys the “Bad Ass Ones” because of their reliably strong, but stubborn nature in carrying their precious cargo. The legend of those hard-working donkeys lives on today at Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii, a company that is “stubborn” about sourcing, roasting and serving quality Hawaiian coffee with the Aloha Spirit.

In addition to snapping selfies with a live donkey, people who visit Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii during the celebration will have a chance to win prizes such as Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii mugs, shirts, lanyards, tote bags and more. They can also receive a free medium drink when they download the Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii app and join ‘Ohana Rewards.

Additionally, the first 89 guests to make a purchase on Aloha Friday will receive a free Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii mug. Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii t-shirts will be given away to the first 89 guests who make a purchase on Shaka Saturday. The quantity of 89 is a nod to the year the company began on the Big Island of Hawai’i. In addition to premium Hawaiian coffees, Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii serves coffees, signature lattes, cold brew, popular blended espresso drinks and teas.

The food menu also serves up a full dose of the Hawaiian spirit with unique delights such as Twisted Malasada donuts and “The Bad Ass One,” a breakfast sandwich with Spam, egg, Swiss, pineapple and barbecue sauce served on KING’S HAWAIIAN® sweet bread. Guests can take the taste of Hawaii home or to the office through packages of Hawaiian blends and single-origin coffee beans including 100% Kona, single serve pods and other products. During the grand opening, Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii will be offering 15% of at home Signature and Flavored coffees.
